Lakes & Mountains

14 days from £759 per person

This fourteen day tour gives you the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe.  From the fairytale charm of the Black Forest, one of Germany’s most popular holiday destinations to the dramatic mountain scenery of the Austrian valleys and then onto the splendour of Lake Garda and the Dolomite mountains.

   Tour Itinerary:

Day 1 – Board our modern, luxury air-conditioned coach and travel to Dover for an early afternoon ferry crossing to Calais.  From Calais we travel to Lille where we make an overnight stop at the Altia Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2 – We make a mid-afternoon arrival at our hotel for the next 3 nights in Freiburg, the ‘capital’ of the Black Forest.  The rest of the day is spent at leisure, perhaps strolling through the picturesque cobbled streets of the old town.

Day 3 – Excursion to Lake Titisee, the largest of the area’s lakes, surrounded by a pretty town with plenty of quaint shops where you can browse the local products.  Perhaps take a boat trip to get a different perspective of the scenery. We then head to Triberg – the cuckoo clock capital of the world!

Day 4 – Day at leisure. There is plenty to see in Freiburg, perhaps visit the lovely old town with its impressive cathedral or sample some Black Forest Gateau in one of the many cafes.

Day 5 – We leave Freiburg and head towards Austria, via the Bavarian countryside and the Fern Pass and onto the Alps.  We arrive at our hotel for the next 4 nights in Innsbruck late-afternoon.  The rest of the day will be spent at leisure.

Day 6 – We visit the world-famous Swarovski Crystal World which showcases this ever more popular Austrian export in an explosion of colour and light.  See the world’s biggest crystal and some breathtaking decorative pieces. In the afternoon, we visit the medieval town of Rattenburg on the banks of the River Inn.

Day 7 – We visit the chic resort of Seefeld located on a plateau high above the Inn Valley.  From here we head to Lake Achensee, the largest lake in the Tirol region.

Day 8 - A free day to explore the superb city of Innsbruck, capital of the Tirol.  Perhaps visit the   charming old town and see the famous ‘Golden Roof’ or visit the Hofburg Imperial Palace.

Day 9 – We travel to Lake Garda via the scenic Brenner Pass, making a stop at Vipiteno, the first town in Italy, arriving at our hotel for the next 4 nights late afternoon.

Day 10 – We have a guided tour around the magnificent Lake Garda, visiting Riva del Garda whose waterfront is dominated by one of Garda's fortresses, the Rocca.  Then onto Sirmione, a beautiful old town famed for its hot sulphur springs before heading to the medieval town of Malcesine.

Day 11 – A full day guided tour of the Dolomite Mountains, riding through the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys.  The tour will take in the stunning scenery of the Pordoi and Sella Passes and the Fassa Valley.

Day 12 – Today we take a boat trip from Torbole to Limone, a town famous for its cultivation of lemons and offering spectacular views across the lake. After returning to our hotel the rest of the day is spent at leisure.

Day 13 – Commence our return journey, making an overnight stop at the Kyriad hotel in Dijon, France on a bed and breakfast basis.
