This fourteen day tour gives
you the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful scenery in
Europe. From the fairytale charm of
the Black Forest, one of Germany’s most popular holiday destinations
to the dramatic mountain scenery of the Austrian valleys and then
onto the splendour of Lake Garda and the Dolomite
mountains.
 
Tour
Itinerary:
Day 1 – Board our
modern, luxury air-conditioned coach and travel to Dover for an early afternoon ferry crossing to
Calais. From Calais we travel to Lille where we
make an overnight stop at the Altia Hotel on a bed and breakfast
basis.
Day 2 – We make a
mid-afternoon arrival at our hotel for the next 3 nights in
Freiburg, the ‘capital’
of the Black Forest. The rest of the day is spent
at leisure, perhaps strolling through the picturesque cobbled
streets of the old town.
Day 3 – Excursion to
Lake Titisee, the largest of the area’s lakes, surrounded by a
pretty town with plenty of quaint shops where you can browse the
local products. Perhaps
take a boat trip to get a different perspective of the scenery. We
then head to Triberg – the cuckoo clock capital of the world!
Day 4 – Day at leisure.
There is plenty to see in Freiburg,
perhaps visit the lovely old town with its impressive cathedral or
sample some Black Forest Gateau in one of the many
cafes.
Day 5 – We leave
Freiburg and head towards Austria, via the Bavarian countryside
and the Fern Pass and onto the Alps.
We arrive at our hotel for the next 4 nights in Innsbruck
late-afternoon. The
rest of the day will be spent at
leisure.
Day 6 – We visit the
world-famous Swarovski Crystal World which showcases this ever more
popular Austrian export in an explosion of colour and light. See the world’s biggest
crystal and some breathtaking decorative pieces. In the afternoon,
we visit the medieval town of Rattenburg on the banks of the
River Inn.
Day 7 – We visit the
chic resort of Seefeld located on a plateau high above the
Inn
Valley. From here we head to
Lake Achensee, the largest lake in the
Tirol region.
Day 8 - A free day to
explore the superb city of Innsbruck,
capital of the Tirol. Perhaps visit the charming old town and
see the famous ‘Golden Roof’ or visit the Hofburg
Imperial Palace.
Day 9 – We travel to
Lake Garda via the scenic Brenner Pass, making a stop at Vipiteno,
the first town in Italy, arriving at our
hotel for the next 4 nights late afternoon.
Day
10 – We have a guided tour around the magnificent Lake Garda, visiting Riva del Garda whose
waterfront is dominated by one of Garda's fortresses, the
Rocca. Then onto
Sirmione, a beautiful old town famed for its hot sulphur springs
before heading to the medieval town of Malcesine.
Day 11 – A full day
guided tour of the Dolomite
Mountains, riding through
the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys. The tour will take in the
stunning scenery of the Pordoi and Sella Passes and the Fassa
Valley.
Day 12 – Today we take a
boat trip from Torbole to Limone, a town famous for its cultivation
of lemons and offering spectacular views across the lake. After
returning to our hotel the rest of the day is spent at leisure.
Day 13 – Commence our
return journey, making an overnight stop at the Kyriad hotel in
Dijon, France on a bed and
breakfast basis.
Day 14 – We head back to
Calais for the short ferry crossing
to Dover. Return to your local
drop-off point.
