Blanes
Blanes is a prosperous town with large
maritime tradition, which has adapted to the
changes that tourism brings, to become one of the
most popular places for holiday makers in Spain. The
town has created all aspects required by the
holidaymaker who returns each year to visit this town of
Roman
origin.
Numerous hotels, apartments, camping’s,
shops and tourist attraction has changed the character
and features of the town and the lives and habits of its
inhabitants.
The places of most interest are the port
and the botanical gardens “Mary Murta”. The port offers
the opportunity to see, each weekday. The daily fish
auction an important event for the locals and of great
interest to the
holidaymaker.
The botanical garden founded by the
German, Karl Faust in 1921, and it is to him that Blanes
has one of the most important botanical gardens in
Spain. Above
the gardens you will find the ruins of the castle
San
Juan, situated at an altitude of
60 metres. From there, every July in the fiestas you can
see the most famous fireworks which are set off from the
beach.
Blanes is very accessible by road 60Kms
from Barcelona and 42
from Gerona, the train
line between Barcelona,
Gerona and
France passes
through
