Lloret De
Mar
Lloret de Mar is without a doubt
the most cosmopolitan town on the Costa Brava and one of the biggest
tourist centres in the country. The infrastructure of
hotels and accommodation in general is very important,
along with shops, night clubs and all activities
centered on the holiday makers who year after year fill
the beaches of what was an ancient Roman town called
“Laureraturm”.

The places that offer the best of
Lloret are the “Castillo” (castle) and the monument of
“Donna Marinera”, situated at the far end of the beach.
In the centre of the old town one
finds the church of St. Roma of the
16th century, which was renovated at the
beginning of this century modernizing it to the
architecture of that
time.
The folklore is centered in
dancing the “sardanas”, choir singing and the other
summer activities. The most important being the fiesta
of the town on the 24th July, which coincides
with the festival of Santa Cristina and the dancing of
the “Almorratxes”.
The geographical situation of
Lloret is ideal, at 70Kms from Barcelona and 30Kms from Gerona and with easy access to the
motorway to France. There
is a bus terminal who’s international services connect
with many European
countries.
During the summer there is a boat service
which connects the town to each
other.
